Accordion Books with Pockets - Great for Kids and Adults
This is another variation on the simple accordion fold books I've shared in the past, but it is an extra fun one because there are pockets involved and everything is better with pockets, no? The instructions for the back and forth folding to make the accordian are slightly abbreviated here, but if you find that you need additional pictures for clarity, this post is a bit more in depth.
What to Use:
- a sheet of paper that is longer than it is high (I used a sheet about five inches by seventeen inches)
- card stock or heavy weight paper for the book covers (optional)
- tape
- a glue stick
- bone folder, popsicle stick or other folding tool for making sharp creases
- something fun to put in the pockets of your book!

Envelope Book
The page is titled "Love Coupons"; however the instructions for making an envelope book are on the page and the idea of leaving notes, drawings, collage, paintings, ect. in the envelope slips and on the outside of the envelope is wonderful.
Envelope Book - More detailed with a cover and made for scrapbooking/journaling
"For the structure of the album, you'll need cardboard, fabric, ribbon and small envelopes. I cut two pieces of cardboard at 4" x 6" (A little wider than the envelope size) and two pieces of fabric, 1" larger than the pieces of cardboard. I chose six white envelopes (3.5" x 5.5") and a broad ribbon. Color envelopes are an option, too. I almost went with black envelopes, but the white won!" ~ Crate Paper Blog
Expandable Travel Journal
"The basic structure is an accordion book made from heavy weight 200 gsm Italian velata paper. Not only does this provide an excellent substrate for the other elements in the book, it takes paint and collage work very well." ~ Useful Books Blog
